Future Developments
-
A five stage upgrade is proposed to
augmented the connection of Pacific Palms and Green Point to the
scheme (Manidis Roberts 1993):
-
installation of pipes and pump stations to collect and transport sewage
from Pacific Palms to a new treatment plant (construction of a new STP-secondary
treatment with tertiary process of phosphorus removal) at Pacific
Palms).
-
construction of a pipeline to transfer effluent from the new Pacific
Palms STP to the Forster STP
-
extension of Forster STP to increase treatment capacity (13,200 EP at
present, extended in stages to 32,400 EP for the year 2016) and a
higher level of treatment (secondary treatment with tertiary process
of phosphorus reduction
-
both Pacific Palms and Forster effluent to undergo tertiary process of
filtration and disinfection;
-
construction of an effluent reuse system (initially between 10% and 20%
of effluent reused) and storage
pond to be constructed to store wet weather flows (MHL640 1993).
